Rat Tonic Hat knitting pattern.

Rat Tonic Hat is the 6th and last pattern from the Potions! collection. It's an easy beanie pattern with a band of stranded colorwork to make it unique and fun to knit. It's named after the Rat Tonic potion from the Harry Potter books.

Difficulty: easy.

Skills used: knit/purl in the round, decrease, stranded colorwork.

Size: To fit head size 16" (20", 24").
When choosing size remember stranded colorwork is not very stretchy.

Yarn: Any sport weight yarn:
Main color: 150-200 yards.
Contrasting colors: 30-40 yards of each contrasting color.

Gauge: 24 stitches x 28 rows = 4" in stockinette.

Tools: Size US 4 / 3.5 mm set of 5 DPNs (or 16" circular or long circular for magic loop); tapestry needle; scissors; 1 stitch marker to mark beginning of the round.
