How to avoid your knitted slippers being slippery.

Like knitted slippers but find them too slippery? Add a sole! Here's a photo tutorial about how to do that.

Finish knitting your slippers. Take a shoe sole. It must be one you can sew through. I'm taking felt/latex soles but you may use leather if you don't have moral issues with it. Make sure you have the right shoe size to fit your slippers.

step one of tutorial how to add a sole on a knitted slipper

Pin the shoe sole on the sole of the slipper. Start with the tip of the toe and the deepest part of the heel. When pinning the sides, make sure the sole of the knitted slipper is flat and without folds.

step two of how to add a sole to a knitted slipper

Starting at the middle of the heel, sew border of the sole to the slipper using backstitch. Hold sewing thread double. I suggest using a thread color as close as possible to the yarn color.

step three of how to add a sole to a knitted slipper

It can get a little tricky when you reach the toe. But if you've chosen a flexible sole you should't run into trouble. On the inside it looks like that.

Congratulations, you've made it!
